Please note the flush service can only be performed if isolation and service valves have been installed with your tankless water heater.

What Does the Flush Service Include?

The flush service includes a thorough cleaning of the water heater's heat exchanger system, and takes about 1.5 hours to complete.

During this process, the water heater will be drained first, then a low-flow rate pump optimized for the flush service will circulate descaling agent in the water heater for an extended period, breaking down mineral deposits and scale buildup. Subsequently, fresh water will rinse the internal components to flush out loose scale and sediment, along with any residual descaling solution. The cold water supply (inlet) filter will also be inspected for trapped sediment and damage.

Once the flush service is complete, the water heater will be restored and tested for its functionality. The pressure relief valve will also be tested for manual operation. Based on the findings during the service, further recommendations for ongoing maintenance might be provided to address any potential issues identified.

What About Tank-type Water Heaters?

Periodic maintenance is also recommended for tank-type water heaters, and I can help with those, too!

A water heater’s tank can act as a settling basin for solids suspended in the water. It is therefore not uncommon for hard water deposits to accumulate in the bottom of the tank. Some manufacturers actually suggest monthly draining of these tanks to continuously flush out scale or lime deposits, unless soft water (less than 60 mg/L) is used. A complete drain and flush should be done at least once annually.

I will fully drain the water heater's tank and flush it a few times to clear out the deposits. I will also inspect the sacrificial anode rod as part of the flush service. I can replace the anode rod for your if it has been depleted for an additional cost. A new anode rod usually lasts 2 to 4 years.
